We are looking for part-time Farm Hands. We are looking for hardworking, reliable animal enthusiasts to help on the farm.

Job duties include animal husbandry, welcoming customers on arrival, checking customers in, giving health & safety talks to small groups of customers, serving refreshments to customers and occasional assistance with offsite events, parties, school, TV & PR visits.

Key attributes: preferably experience working with animals/at a yard, great customer service, efficient, good time management, team worker, capable of taking instructions, drivers license, own form of transport, live locally within 1 hour drive from our farm (HP7 0HR), over 17

Kew Little Pigs have an exciting opportunity for the position of General Farm Manager across our 4 acre petting farm based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. This role will take on the responsibility of managing the farm team, as well as livestock (pigs, goats, chickens, ducks and guinea pigs).

The key responsibilities of the General Farm Manager are to:

  • Execute farming operations as set out by the Managing Director
  • Manage farm employees and as appropriate, ensure that all work and operations are performed to desired standards and timelines
  • Responsibility of maintaining farm assets – buildings, machinery, gates, fencing and access routes in good condition and vehicle
  • Provide the Managing Director with regular, accurate and informative reports to enable decision making on farming operations.
  • Manage the livestock and animal welfare – record keeping and husbandry
  • Planning and rotas
  • Sales targets
  • Liaise with office staff and complete some administrational tasks – basic understanding of Microsoft Office needed

For this permanent position, the successful candidate can expect:

  • £25,000 - £28,000 per annum dependant on experience and a successful 1-year probation.
  • 5 days a week (weekdays & weekends) - 8am – 4pm
  • Leave - 28 days
  • Company Pension

To be a strong candidate for this role, you need to:

  • Have 3 years of experience managing staff and a petting farm or similar
  • Have a clean driving licence – with own transport – but will be required to use business vehicle
  • Level 3 or higher animal management qualification
  • Be proactive, committed to excellence and take pride in your work with great organisation skills
  • Be diligent, conscientious and willing to support the farm operations as a whole
  • Be a person of high integrity
  • Be a team leader with excellent communication skills
  • Be able to demonstrate how you have improved the operations you have been involved with
  • Be prepared to work weekends and evenings, when required
  • Be physically fit and capable of undertaking physically demanding manual operations
  • Sales and customer service experience
  • Valid DBS & First Aid
  • Live locally within 1 hour drive from our farm (HP7 0HR)

We are looking for freelancers to assist with offsite events, parties, school, TV & PR visits.

Job duties include assisting with transporting the pigs to the venue, setting up the area, assisting with running the events and clearing up the venue. This will involve evening and weekend work.

Key attributes: an interest in animals, great customer service, presentable, approachable, organised, capable of taking instructions, over 18
