Best Business Woman Awards 2019 – Kew Little Pigs Farm

Best Business Woman Awards 2019

It's crazy to think that we are already mid-way through October. 2019 has been quite the year for KLP; Amy our office manager was on maternity for the first part of the year and Michelle our marketing and social media manager went on maternity mid-February. As a small team of women (only three of whom are full-time and two of those three include Amy and Michelle), it's been a year of change, a year of driving the business forward and most significantly - the year of the pig.

With a newly designed website, unique new merchandise, our reputation spanning internationally (we are currently working with Japan) being nominated for the parliamentary review (this November) new supplier relationships (Virgin Media) and various changes to the farm, it's been all systems go and as a team, we were beginning to really see the fruits of our labor flourish.

When the opportunity to be a part of the Best Business Women Awards arose, we jumped at the chance. It was a way of us celebrating our hard work, especially since the core team had been juggling motherhood and the KLP MD Olivia had pioneered such a unique vision that started from very humble beginnings just 9 years ago.

We were entered into two of the most prestigious categories - Best Business and Most Inspiring Business Women.

We couldn't believe that we made the finals for not one category, but both!

Created by the multi-award-winning entrepreneur Debbie Gilbert, the awards are about recognising great women in business.

On October 11th 2019, the KLP team and close family members swapped our wellies for heels, our jackets for dresses and headed to London for the Awards.

The evening kicked off in great fashion with a champagne reception and belly dancing entertainment to get the crowd ready. We were then treated to a three-course meal and drinks pre-award announcements.

It was a tense evening, but we knew regardless of the outcome, just making it to the finals and being recognised in two incredible categories had already made us proud.

We sadly didn't win, however just being a part of the ceremony and getting to the level that we have under challenges we've faced, has made us ready for even greater things in 2020.
