Kew Little Pigs January 25th Newsletter – Kew Little Pigs Farm

Kew Little Pigs January 25th Newsletter

There's snow place like the Kew Little Pigs farm!

We've had another busy few weeks at the farm piglet proofing pens for Jill's new litter in a few weeks, raising the pig huts off the ground to avoid dampness and adding wood chip to pens to reduce the mud. Olivia has been teaching new pig owners our Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping Course over Zoom and ensuring Mia's piglets arrived safely to their new homes across the UK.

We said a fond farewell to some of Mia's piglets at the end of last week - two of them travelled all the way to Aberdeen!

Their new owner welcomed these two piglets, now named Lady Marmalade and Lord Chadwick, with handmade Scottish scarfs and they have already made best friends with their son.

These two piglets, Eddie & Elvis, have gone to an existing customer's home in Surrey to join her other miniature pigs Sid & Spike who were also born on the KLP farm last year.

Pictured below is Laura who joined the KLP team a few weeks ago and has already been a brilliant addition to the team. She's looking forward to meeting you all when we reopen the farm at the beginning of April!

The fifth piglet went to her new home in Dorset and has been named Beauty. It's been lovely to hear how well they have all been settling in!

We are now taking new bookings from April 1st onwards so you can book in via our website!

Although out farm gates are remaining closed until then, we are bringing piggy entertainment straight to your sofa with our weekly Saturday Lives on Facebook.

These will also be posted on Instagram and YouTube, so please follow and subscribe if you haven't already. You can watch our most recent Saturday Live by clicking here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCARLETT!

It is the glorious Scarlett’s 10th birthday today! Scarlett is the oldest pig on the KLP farm and she was born in the first ever KLP litter when we were based in Kew! Scarlett has always been a shy pig but very affectionate and calm.

Scarlett has been awarded PIG OF THE MONTH to celebrate her amazing ten years. We are spoiling Scarlett today with a homemade cake to try and cheer her up as she does not like the snow at all! Click here to watch Scarlett enjoying her birthday cake!

We have two black piglets left from Mia's litter that we have named Lisa and Bart, who are looking for their forever homes.

And we have Jill's litter due very soon in the next few weeks. We are taking deposits for Jill's litter which will be ready to be re-homed at the beginning of April - just in time for the Easter holidays! Two of Jill's piglets have already been sold.

Once again, after thinking she was in pig, Nina came back in season so she is not expecting a litter as we previously thought. This is the second time this has happened! We have tried breeding from her twice with Milo with no success, so we are now going to try one last time with resident stud Blanket - trotters crossed!

There's been lots of mating going on in Pen 5 - Blanket has been put in a pen with not only Nina but also with Simone, Daisy and Squeaks. Let’s hope Blanket didn’t get a big head about being such a stud!

If you're looking for boar hire, we hire out our boars so please do get in touch for more information by emailing info@kewlittlepigs.com.

plus a FREE Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping Course for 2 people (worth £144)
