Mia and Scarlet, the farm’s star micro pigs, epitomise companionship, spending every moment together in a display of inseparability. Not far behind in the relationship stakes are Blanket and Gizmo, whose connection is as sturdy as it is heartwarming. However, Blanket harbours a cheeky secret from his past—a daring adventure in 2021 that saw him fathering an astonishing 70 piglets after a nocturnal escapade!

On Friday, December 15, more than 10 local businesses and two very special porky guests from Amersham’s Kew Little Pigs came to Burford House, with traders selling items such as candyfloss, spa products, Christmas decorations and scarves.
Many guests came to enjoy the festivities, including Gagan Mohindra, MP for South West Hertfordshire; Ashish Patil, chairman of the Three Rivers Music Society; and Home Instead representative Scott Wright.
Kew Little Pigs set up in the car park entrance, with all visitors and residents given the chance to have their photo taken with the pigs.
Home manager Kyla said: “It’s been great to see so many people come to the Christmas market at Burford House Care Home. We wanted to support the local traders of the area, but also have some family fun for the local community. The day has been really exciting for the residents, team and families, and we hope the local community has enjoyed the day.”
Relative Lin said: ‘The Christmas fair seemed to go off well; it was a very jolly event. I particularly liked Kew Little Pigs!”
]]>Pip the friendly cat is a real star at Hale Farm in Lewes, Sussex, and loves mingling with visitors to the popular camping, glamping and guest house site.
But as the nights drew in and the summer holiday rush was over, the cute feline was starting to feel a bit lonely, and farm owner Ruth Rance, 46 came up with a bright idea to help put a spring back in her step.
Last month Ruth, husband Scott, 45 and son Jack, 10 brought home Fern and Lilly, a couple of adorable miniature pigs, who are the perfect friends for Pip, aged three now that life is a little quieter.
Ruth said: "Pip absolutely loves all the attention that she gets during the peak holiday season, and our visitors love to pet her and spend time with all the farm animals. But now that things have got a little quiet she does get a bit sad, so we thought this was the perfect time to introduce some new friends."
It's a great time for Fern and Lilly to join the farm too, and they have the winter months to settle in before meeting an onslaught of new visitors in the spring and summer.
Ruth added: "They are so sweet and affectionate, and are settling in really well, getting on with Pip like a house on fire. We sadly lost our pet sow Pauline and took a little while to feel that the time is right to get more pigs, but we are so glad to have Fern and Lilly and can't wait for them to meet visitors next holiday season.
"We also thought Lily and Fern would be a fantastic addition for the students at the farm school, which will be launched at Hale Farm in January 2024 as they have been so well handled."
Fern and Lilly are no strangers to living life in the public eye, having spent their piglet months at Kew Little Pigs, which is an open farm experience as well as an ethical breeder of miniature pigs.
Olivia Mikhail, owner of Kew Little Pigs, which is based in Old Amersham, Bucks, said: "We are so happy that Lilly and Fern have such a happy new home. Because they have grown up at Kew Little Pigs they are very sociable, so are in the perfect place, meeting holidaymakers at Hale Farm.
"Pigs are seen as unusual pets, but they really are as affectionate and easy to train as a dog, and cheaper to keep. We can't wait to hear updates from Hale Farm about Lilly and Fern's antics."

]]>A family from Cullingworth have shunned pet dogs and cats, in favour of welcoming two little pigs into their home.
Teaching assistant Stacey Robertshaw and her twins Elsie and Cole, 13 recently adopted Dolly and Mabel, who are settling well into West Yorkshire life.
The adorable porkers are miniature pigs, and live in the family's home, snuggling with them like a dog in the evenings, eating and drinking from bowls and learning new tricks.
Dolly and Mabel also have a special outdoor area so that they can snuffle and enjoy the sunshine, but the majority of their time is spent indoors with their new loving family. Speaking about her unusual pet choice, Stacey said: "I can't believe how easy they are to look after, and they were house trained in two days.
"They learn so quickly and love a treat, especially a banana! I find myself walking around the supermarket picking out fruit for them to try, they definitely have a sweet tooth." Stacey and the kids adopted the pigs from the UK's leading miniature pig breeder Kew Little Pigs, which is based in Buckinghamshire.
The mum came up with the idea after following the farm on Instagram and falling in love with the cute photos and videos of life with a pig. She added: "Having a dog worried me, as I didn't really want to be having to go out walking them at night. The kids were desperate for a pet, so when I saw the miniature pigs it felt like the perfect choice.
In order to adopt from Kew Little Pigs, Stacey, Elsie and Cole had to take a pig keeping course run by the farm, and demonstrate that they had created an appropriate space for their new pets. Olivia Mikhail, owner of Kew Little Pigs, which is based in Amersham, Bucks, said: "It is so nice to see Dolly and Mabel in their happy home in West Yorkshire. Pigs really do make the perfect pets and are cheaper to keep than a dog.

"We love what we do, and most importantly our animals are happy and well cared for, and we think that must shine through when visitors spend time here." The farm offers visitors hands-on experiences with adorable micropigs, promoting an ethical approach to animal interaction.

We are still walking on air following the best start to 2022. In March we won not one, but TWO awards at the amazing Ladies First Awards Winning ‘Business Woman of the year’ and ‘Unique Business’. We are still over the moon from this recognition and thank everyone who made that event so special.
After a very difficult few years following the global pandemic, moments like this make you realise that all that hard work is completely worthwhile. The company has grown from strength to strength over the 11 years it has been running however we never could have seen the struggles that we have encountered during this time.
We are so pleased to be able to sit back and see how far we have come, and our exciting plans for the future. We are so happy to have re-opened our doors, we have had our first litters of piglets born this year. Mia and Tina gave birth on Mother’s Day! How pig’fect is that!
We look to the future and thank everyone who has helped over the years. We hope to see you on the farm soon!
Thank you again to everyone involved in ‘Ladies First’ we are so grateful for these awards and they will take pride of place at the farm. We look forward to future events such as these, swapping out our wellies for heels, putting the wheelbarrow down, and picking up champagne instead!

Swapping wellies for heels, Olivia and the team attended the glamorous award ceremony in London, as finalists for not just one, but three categories: Best Business Woman, Most Inspiring Business Woman and Best Woman In Animal Services.
It was an inspiring evening celebrating female entrepreneurs from all over the world, organised by the brilliant Debbie Gilbert, and after excitedly sitting on the edges of our seats, we were delighted to hear our name called out by Lorraine Thomas as the 2021 Gold Award Winner for Best Woman In Animal Services!
Selected by a panel of business experts, Olivia was recognised for leaving "no stone unturned in her goals to grow her business, identifying new avenues for growth and adopting unusual marketing tactics to get noticed."
After reviewing our entry, the judges commented how Kew Little Pigs was "a very diverse and individual business run by an exceptional business woman. Her passion for pigs is formidable."
With a record year last year, despite the difficulties from COVID, we were eager to share our journey from Olivia's back garden in Kew to our current 3.6 acre farm in Amersham. We are now celebrating our 11th year, and it really feels like it's only just the beginning! Our brand new gift shop and cafe opening any minute now will be a true piggy paradise full of an extensive range of goodies, our re-designed website will be launching soon showcasing our restructured experiences and we cannot wait to reveal an innovative business venture that we've been busy with behind the scenes.
Olivia said "I am absolutely over the moon about this award. It really has been an incredible journey and a lot of hard work, but I'm so proud of Kew Little Pigs, and the whole team too.
"We love pigs and care about their welfare and hope that shines through in all that we do, but it is moments like this that help us realise that our message is working."
